A Disappointing Twins Night for Motley
5.29.10
A fter being in the top five in practice, the last thing Travis Motley wanted was to qualify 14th, but after battling a tight race car in qualifying, that is exactly what happened. Upon further inspection, the #59 crew discovered that the sway bar bolt was vibrating on the race track and tightening up the sway bar. This would account for the poor qualifying run and perhaps the 7th place finish two weeks earlier. At the drop of the green flag in race #1, Motley went to work, moving into 4th position by lap 20 with one of the fastest cars on the race track. This stellar run would be short-lived as blatant contact from another competitor caused Motley to spin into the infield. This contact knocked a hose off the rear end gear, spewing oil everywhere and forcing Motley to pull of the track for the remainder of the race. The 59 crew did an excellent job preparing the car for the second race of the evening. After starting from 14th once again, Motley battled a loose race car all the way up to 6th. This race was cut short too after the 3rd, 4th and 5th place cars got together, collecting Motley along the way. Motley was brought back in on the tow truck with a tore up race car.
